ARTICLE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

FOR OUR AUTHORS

Please follow the formatting guidelines highlighted below when submitting your articles to the Editorial Office of “Gynecologic Oncology” Journal

• An article must be accompanied by a formal reference letter issued by an institution at which the research work was carried out. Reference letter must include all authors’ names and research paper title.
• Title page should include:
  • an article title;
  • ) all authors’ first and last names, initials, institution name, positions of all authors ;
  • full name of the institution and Department (chair, laboratory) to which the research work was attributed;
  • the corresponding author’s complete contact information: full name, e-mail, postal/mailing address, telephone number and fax number.
• An article must be submitted in two copies. An original article including any relevant tables, images, figures, references and an abstract should not exceed 8-12 pages, reviews and lectures – 10-15 pages, clinical case reports – 3-5 pages.
• An article, including tables, references, figure legends, abstracts must be typed on a computer or typewriter, line spacing should be 1.5. There should be no extra elements (printed borders, horizontal lines etc.). Please observe the following margins: 40 mm (left), 30 mm (top). Use a 14-point font on a computer with 30 lines per page, each line contains 60 characters.
• The mast head comprises:
  • author’s (s’) initials and last name(s);
  • ) an article title;
  • the name of the institution in which the research work was carried out;
  • the city.
• An article must have a clear and logical structure and must be presented in the correct scientific format. It must be subdivided into the following sections: Materials and Methods, Discussion and Results, Implications and Conclusions. Present your arguments and conclusions intelligibly and succinctly, avoid any kind of digressions. It is necessary to perform an extensive quantitative analysis of the numerical data obtained in the clinical studies when it’s difficult to evaluate the validity and reliability of the findings, interpret, describe and illustrate their results without applying statistical techniques.
• When you use quotations you must acknowledge the source (title, publisher, year of publication, edition, volume, page) and provide a numerical reference in the text that refers to a footnote or endnote. Footnotes appear at the bottom of each page while endnotes appear at the end of each chapter or collected at the end of the paper.
• Therapeutic agents used and the methods of their delivery must be approved by the Pharmacology Committee of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Russian Federation and allowed for clinical application. Information on novel devices, appliances, instruments used in clinical - social expertise and rehabilitation must be registered with Medical Device Applications Commission of the Ministry of Healthcare and Social Development of the Russian Federation.
• Illustrations are submitted in two copies. Photos, graphs, charts and diagrams should be labeled Figure and assigned a number. The label, title and source (if any) appear underneath the figure in a continuous block of text. Mark the reverse side with figure number, first author’s name , TOP and BOTTOM. Graphs, charts and tables must not be overloaded with too long text captions. Microphotographs and photographs may be black-and-white and colour. Captions for figures should be placed on a separate page. They must include:
  • ) a title;
  • legend and captions that explain the abbreviations, all symbols of curves, letters, numbers, characters etc.
  For microphotographs specify staining technique (or impregnation) and original magnification of the material.

  REQUIREMENTS FOR ILLUSTRATIONS, IMAGES AND DRAWINGS, submitted on magnetic carriers

  Black-and-white line drawings:

  • file format — TIFF (extension *.tif), any program supporting this format (Adobe PhotoShop, CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator and etc.);
  • regime— bitmap;
  • resolution — 600 dpi (dots per inch);
  • gray and black backgrounds must be substituted with diagonal stripes, cross-hatching or any other type of line drawing;
  • image must be cut on borders and cleaned up from “dust” and “scratches”;
  • image width – not more than 180 mm, it’s advisable not to use the width 87 to 150 mm;
  • height of an image – not more than 230 mm (taking into account the space for a figure caption below an image);
  • font size of figure captions – no less than 7 pt (7 points);
  • it is possible to use LZW compression or any other;
  • computer file carriers — floppy 3.5'' (1,44 MB), Zip 100 MB, CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW;
  • it is mandatory to submit a printed copy.

  Colour images, photographs and figures with gray elements:

  • platform (computer) — IBM PC or compatible;
  • image file format — TIFF (extension *.tif);
  • publishing software program , — PageMaker 6.5; CorelDRAW 7 and 8;
  • colour mode — CMYK;
  • resolution — no more than 300 dpi (dots per inch) or 119,975 pixels per 1 cm;
  • image must clearly support the material as presented in the article;
  • it is possible to use LZW compression;
  • don’t use PANTONE colours;
  • computer file carriers — Zip 100 MB; compact disc CD-ROM.

• Specify positions of each Figure and Table in the text or on the margin when you refer to them. Figures and Tables should be numbered in a single series that reflects the order in which they are referred to in the text ( e.g. Fig.1, Table 1 etc.).
• Supporting information tables must be submitted as separate files and typed on a computer or typewriter, each table must have a clear and concise title, quantitative data must be presented clearly, intelligibly and efficiently, column and row headings should reflect the content of the table. All quantitative data values must be consistent across tables, figures and text in the same article and must be statistically processed.
• The use of abbreviations is not permitted unless they are common and broadly familiar to readers. As a general rule, medical terminology abbreviations must be expanded at first mention in the text.
• Reference list should appear at the end of the article and begin on a new page separate from the text. References section must be organized as follows:
  • List of References Cited should include all of the sources you cited in the paper. It should be arranged in alphabetical order by the last name of the first author with the initials, domestic authors are listed first, followed by foreign authors. Then put the titles of the books, journals, the cities of publication (location), publisher, years of publication, volume and issue numbers, page range. Articles written by domestic authors and published in foreign languages are listed among the works by foreign authors in alphabetical order, and articles written by foreign authors published in Russian are placed among the articles by domestic authors in alphabetical order. All references must be numbered consecutively as they are cited and appear in the text.
  • If multiple works by the same author are cited (including those written with co-authors), they are listed in chronological order.
  • When making a reference to authors’ abstracts of PhD Theses you should provide their title. It is not acceptable to reference unpublished works.
  Authors are responsible for the accuracy of bibliographical references.
• Original research article must include a structured abstract (a brief summary of the problem being considered in the entire article) up to a half page typed with all authors’ names and an article title. Key words are listed below an abstract.
• By submission of a manuscript to the journal, the authors guarantee that they have the authority to publish the work and that the manuscript was not published previously, is not simultaneously being considered for publication by other journals or published elsewhere.
• Title page must include :
  • article title;
  • author’s (authors’) last names, initials, institutional affiliations, job titles/positions;
  • full name of the institution and department (chair, laboratory) where research was conducted;
  • ) corresponding author’s last name, first name, complete address with postal code, e-mail, telephone and fax numbers.
• The Editorial Board reserves the right to shorten and edit articles.
• Articles that do not comply with the above listed Guidelines and Requirements will be returned to author(s) without consideration.
• Manuscripts that are not accepted for publication will not be returned to author(s).
